Our heroes – from 500 years ago – Leonardo da Vinci – to the 20th century – Albert Einstein – and all the great artists and engineers and scientists throughout

"I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do."
LEONARDO DA VINCI

"All our knowledge has its origins in our perceptions."
LEONARDO DA VINCI

The only source of knowledge is experience"
ALBERT EINSTEIN

"I have no special talents I am only passionately curious"
ALBERT EINSTEIN

The origins and methodology of tcl-cumbria are based on innovative thinking, forging ahead with new ideas, using creativity when it comes to finding novel solutions to complex problems – it’s in the DNA

Our DNA – ANIMATED CREATOR

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them"
ALBERT EINSTEIN

It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with the problems longer”
ALBERT EINSTEIN

The beginning of another journey 50 years ago from Leicester, through space, imagination, time Not so much a giant leap, just incremental steps of achievement and recognition

A mechanical rig designed and manufactured to demonstrate principles of hydraulic power and control for a national exhibition was spotted by a BBC reporter. Watching visitors operate levers to release single walnuts from a hopper, then position on a crushing station before sweeping into a collecting tray, he spotted the opportunity to have it featured on BLUE PETER as ’The World’s Biggest Nutcracker’ in 1968

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”
ALBERT EINSTEIN

Gathering experience through the application of mechanical engineering capability, fluid power & control expertise across many national and international locations – from Moscow to Manchester – for world-class companies in multiple sectors: Environmental, Food, Industrial, Marine, Nuclear, Sport & Leisure

Fast forward to the New Millennium and a visitor attraction collaboration project - work on a unique kinetic clock with designer John Parkinson of Upfront Gallery and the build and installation of ‘behind-the-scenes’ power and control systems to operate mechanical cogs and levers (mechatronics) that brought animated features to life every hour. ‘The Rum Story Clock’, Whitehaven has kept time on the hour, every day and every year for the past 20 years.

In those travels there have been contributions towards many aspects of life, including –

ART & CULTURE

from supporting local theatre to promoting art & design in schools

EDUCATION

signing an £11million cheque to create a legacy for future generations

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

from a blueprint for conservation to helping create a £1/4million community facility

You have a great sense of creativity and a very unusual way of thinking. You are constantly looking for a good way to realize every single idea that comes to your mind. You can easily find your source of inspiration and that helps you to create really big things. The greatest pleasure for you is to share your best ideas with the world.

IN THE 21 st CENTURY THE NEXT MILLENNIUM BECKONS

“Out yonder there was this huge world, which exists independently of us human beings and which stands before us like a great, eternal riddle, at least partially accessible to our inspection and thinking. The contemplation of this world beckoned like a liberation…”
ALBERT EINSTEIN
